We had no problem getting into the spirit of Halloween in between sets, thanks to the art (which featured massive 3D structures and glow-in-the-dark features), performers (including contortionists, fortune-tellers and palm readers), and the return of The Asylum.

He started his apocalyptic performance with a full intro from “Thriller”, followed by a trippy blend of techno and electro that had us nearly in tears and ended the weekend on a high note. It was a tough choice deciding which act to close the festival off with on Saturday night, but we went with the Boys Noize live set at the Chopping House stage. His heavy quasi-dub, from his sophomore album Awake, had us banging our heads the entire time. While every set at the Slaughterhouse main stage on Friday absolutely killed it, Illenium really blew us away. Seductive aerialists and dancers completed the atmosphere while the music nearly hypnotized us and our PLUR fam. Nicole Moudaber also played a special MoodZONE set at the same stage on Saturday. The expanded dance floor was epic and gave us extra space to dance our faces off during Jamie Jones Presents Paradise on Friday night, which featured a life-changing techno set, followed by a B2B set with Joseph Capriati.

The Damus Building, home to Cannibals’ Tea Party, was an upgrade this year thanks to sponsor Factor 93. More than 70 DJs-including DJ Snake, Marshmello, Zedd, and Tiesto- gathered this weekend among the costumed vibers and creepy performers. This is one of the many reasons why we love Insomniac’s festivals and, man, did it make for one pretty sweet-and spooky- weekend. Insomniac emphasizes the most important element of their festivals as being ravers and Vibe Tribers, and aims to create an experience where you can celebrate music, art, life, and love while spreading good vibes and creating community. No, not Headliners in the classic sense… at Escape, YOU are the headliner. This year’s theme was Psycho Circus, and from the Slaughterhouse and Ghouls’ Graveyard stages, to The Chopping Block and Cannibals’ Tea Party, the festival didn’t miss a chance to get in the spirit of Halloween and spook its Headliners.
